WHAT IS CREDIT REPAIR?
In general terms, the Fair Credit Reporting Act (hereinafter, the "FCRA") empowers consumers with the statutory right to dispute with the credit reporting agencies inaccurate, incomplete, and/or obsolete information appearing on their credit reports. Pursuant to the FCRA, the credit reporting agencies must investigate consumer disputes and contact the furnisher of such erroneous information in order to verify the accuracy of the tradeline. Within thirty (30) days, the furnisher must verify the tradeline or update it so that it becomes accurate. If they do not, it must be deleted.
Sounds easy enough, right? Unfortunately, the process is tedious for the individual consumer and the credit reporting agencies have devised instrumentalities which have further frustrated the intent of the FCRA. While consumers certainly have the legal right to challenge entries wrongfully displayed upon their reports, the dispute process is confusing, inordinately time consuming, and ultimately, produces little results. At best, credit repair on one's own can yield marginal progress and at worst, it can make matters far direr.

SHOULD I PAY OFF MY DELINQUENT DEBTS?
